Kristen Stewart Says Playing Princess Diana in a Wedding Dress Was "Creepy"

It has begun, ladies and gentlemen. With the Los Angeles premiere of "Spencer" on October 26, the highly anticipated Princess Diana biopic (opens in new tab) will finally grace a big screen near you on November 5.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight (opens in new tab) on the red carpet, Kristen Stewart (opens in new tab) revealed what it was really like to step into the late Princess Diana's shoes.

"When you put on that dress, it incorporates a montage of her life flashing before your eyes," Stewart told ET.

"The movie takes place over three days, and I was playing a 29- or 30-year-old woman, but I wanted people to get a taste of the breadth of her life. I wanted people to get a taste of the breadth of her life, even if it was just a kind of lyrical dance. The wedding dress was incorporated into that montage, and it was an eerie day to wear it."

Playing the title role in Spencer sounds like an emotionally heavy experience. 'We didn't have a wedding scene, but we did have a scene where we walk outside the castle. 'Wait, but this is very special. The director, Pablo Larraín, said to me, 'Leave everything you've learned about the day, all the emotional reactions you've accumulated, here. What does it mean to believe in an ideal? I said, 'Okay, all right. Let's go.'"

This is not the first time Stewart has used the word "creepy" when talking about filming a movie. She once told the LA Times (open in new tab), "I felt eerie and spiritual in making this film. Even if I was just daydreaming. There were moments when it felt like I was being signed."

Stewart, who received a standing ovation (opens in new tab) for playing Princess Diana in Venice and is an early Oscar contender, apparently stunned on the red carpet as much as on screen.

The actress wore a small black crop top and tiered tulle and lace skirt by Chanel (opens in new tab). She is a longtime ambassador for Chanel, and she is a favorite of the brand for red carpet events. For the Spencer premiere, Stewart kept her strawberry blonde hair, which debuted a few weeks ago, but styled it into a cool-girl asymmetrical look, short on one side and wavy on the other.
