she cites the fact that some rooms at Buckingham Palace were opened to the public to raise money for repairs after a 1992 fire destroyed over 115 rooms at Windsor Castle. Since most members of the family spend most of their time in other houses (the Queen lives in Windsor), for many years it has been used primarily as a place where the Queen's headquarters are located and events are held.
