Prince Charles May Turn Buckingham Palace into Museum

Prince Charles May Turn Buckingham Palace into Museum

Times are changing for the royal family, and that means plans to keep the royal family relevant are getting a little more radical. The reported plans to slim down the royal family when Prince Charles eventually ascends to the throne are already having an impact. One of Prince Charles' friends even admits that the scandals and backlash the royal family has faced over the past two years will, on the positive side, help him get the slimmer royal family he envisions.

Against that backdrop, this new rumor that Buckingham Palace may become a museum during Prince Charles's reign ...... might be a little less shocking." This information comes from Express, which spoke with Dr. Anna Whitelock, a royal historian. According to Dr. Whitelock,

she cites the fact that some rooms at Buckingham Palace were opened to the public to raise money for repairs after a 1992 fire destroyed over 115 rooms at Windsor Castle. Making Buckingham Palace less of a royal residence and more of a public place would not be so far-fetched. Since most members of the family spend most of their time in other houses (the Queen lives in Windsor), for many years it has been used primarily as a place where the Queen's headquarters are located and events are held.

According to Dr. Whitelock, these are questions that might come up "at the beginning" of Prince Charles' reign. If he goes ahead with it, sign us up for a guided tour."
