Queen advised to "stop drinking in the evening" before next year's Jubilee

Many of life's best things are bad for you if taken in excess, but royal advisors are now taking aim at things like Queen Elizabeth's (open in new tab) rather moderate drinking habits.

Her Majesty, 95, will celebrate 70 years (!) on the throne with a platinum jubilee (opens in new tab). ), which means that she needs to be in tip-top shape before June 2022, when she celebrates 70 years on the throne (open in new tab). Therefore, the Queen's doctor has informed her that for the time being, regular drinking (opens in new tab) may not be her best option.

"The queen has been told to stop drinking in the evenings, when she usually has a martini," a family friend told Vanity Fair (open in new tab)." It's not a big deal to her, and she's not a heavy drinker, but it seems a little unfair that at this stage of life she has to give up one of her few pleasures."[5

A second source added, "The alcohol is gone and her doctors want to make sure she is as fit and healthy as possible."

HM is unlikely to be using her secret liquor tunnel (opens in new tab) much in the coming months. If it looks like it's going to be empty, can I make a reservation?

The queen has to stay away from the nightly dry martinis, sweet wine, and champagne, but she can still have a drink on special occasions. In celebration of her right to indulge once in a while, here are a number of photos of her enjoying a little boozy moment. Cheers
