Kate Middleton expected to take a break from public service "for a while."

Kate Middleton reportedly does not plan to return to official duties anytime soon as she continues to undergo preventive cancer treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer.

On Friday, May 3, The Times of London reported that the Princess of Wales "is expected to take some time off from official duties," adding that Middleton may be "willing" to attend public functions "if she feels able."

Middleton was not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter 2024, after Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales had undergone abdominal surgery and a brief hospital stay, reportedly scheduled for January.

That return date was later postponed indefinitely after Middleton made the shocking announcement that he had been diagnosed with cancer.

"So my medical team advised that I should undergo preventive chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment," Kate said at the time, via a video released by the Palace on March 22. 'Of course, this came as a huge shock. William and I have done everything we can to personally handle and manage this for our young family."

In the same video, Middleton said he would eventually return to public appearances once he is cleared by his doctors. A Kensington Palace spokesperson explained that "any first public event" that the Princess of Wales attends "does not necessarily mean a return to her regular public schedule.

In her announcement, Middleton stated that she is "in good spirits and getting stronger every day as she focuses on healing her mind, body, and spirit."

In a recent public appearance, Prince William gave a brief update on his wife and children.

During a charity visit to Newcastle, England, a public figure wearing a Union Jack flag asked the prince, "How are your wife and children?" He asked.

"They are all fine, thank you," Prince William replied. Yes, they are all fine."

As his wife continued to focus on her health and ongoing treatment, Prince William reportedly felt "immense pressure" in the days leading up to his return to public functions at the royal family.

"It was stressful," one source told Us Weekly. He mentioned not only his wife's cancer diagnosis, but also his father, Prince Charles, navigating his own cancer diagnosis and treatment.

[24] "William feels a deep sense of duty to protect the stability of the monarchy and to give the public confidence that everything will be okay," the source continued. It is an immense responsibility."
