While the Prince of Wales is going through a difficult time after his wife and father were diagnosed with cancer, sources close to Prince William said soccer is supporting him.

"He is greatly encouraged by Aston Villa's results," one source told People, referring to Prince William's favorite soccer (read futbol) team. 'At times like this, you can't overlook the importance of soccer.'

More recently, on May 2, the Prince of Wales was seen cheering on his favorite team at his home stadium, Villa Park in Birmingham, when they played Olympiacos in the European Conference League semifinals.

And in early April, Prince William enjoyed some one-on-one time with his son Prince George as they watched the EFA European Conference League 2023/24 quarterfinal between Aston Villa and Lille OSC.

The Prince of Wales is the president of the Football Association and has long professed to be a huge Aston Villa supporter.

"I used to be obsessed with soccer at school," he said. 'All my friends were Chelsea and Manchester United fans. I wanted a team that was more middle of the pack, that would give me a roller coaster ride of excitement. Aston Villa always had a great history."

Prince William, who watched a soccer game with his son this past April, proudly stated that his son is also a big Aston Villa fan.
