Ben Affleck is "actively involved" in supporting his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, weeks after her father's death.

"Since her father's death, he has been checking in on her and letting her know he is there for her," a source told Entertainment Tonight. 'He was the grandfather of her children and Ben and he were always close. He considered him family and will continue to do so."

Affleck and Garner were married from 2005 to 2018 and have 18-year-old Violet, 15-year-old Finn, and 12-year-old Samuel. Affleck is now married to Jennifer Lopez, and Garner is in a long-term relationship with businessman John Miller.

The source added that "more than coping with this loss," the 13 Going on 30 actress "is in a very happy place and getting along with Ben and Jen (Niffer Lopez). Jennifer and Jen have become closer, which is good for both of them. Jennifer Garner and John Miller are getting along well and are talking about escalating their relationship to the next level."

Garner's father William passed away earlier this year at the age of 85, and his daughter announced the sad news on Instagram. She acknowledged the sadness that accompanied his death, but focused on the gratitude she felt for his life.

"I am grateful for my dad's gentle manner and quiet strength. 'He could tease us with his mischievous smile or play the patient girl dad. We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership, and faith."

She continued, " There are so many things I want to say about my father. My sisters and I can't say enough about what a wonderful person my father was, so please bear with us." But for today, I share these memories in gratitude for the kind and wonderful man, father, and grandfather my father was, as well as the loving legacy he left behind.
