Read MoreTravis Kells... reached new heights.
Taylor's girlfriend just signed a two-year contract extension with her team, the Kansas City Chiefs, becoming the highest-paid tight end in the entire National Football League in the process.
"No more champagne problems: the Chiefs and All-Pro, Pro Bowl TE Travis Kelce have reached an agreement on a new two-year contract extension to make him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL, sources say," sports commentator Ian Rapoport reported on Twitter.
"The deal was done by his longtime agent Mike Simon, now @milkhoneysport.
Reposting Rapoport's tweet, Kelce's teammate and best friend, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, wrote, "I told yall I'll never let him leave! Congrats! The cliché that Taylor Swift "put Travis Kelce on the map" is obviously more of a funny joke people tell to piss off their boyfriends than a cold hard fact. Example A: "New Heights," a sports podcast with her brother Jason Kelsey, has gained a large number of Swiffy listeners since the relationship began, and even won a People's Choice Award as a result.
On a similar note, Kells already had several businesses before meeting Swift, but it wasn't until their relationship took off that he filed five trademarks simultaneously in November. (Swift herself has 50 trademarks.) Given that, it seems to me that this pop star has absolutely nothing to do with her boyfriend's lucrative new contract. Just saying!
