Taylor Swift's New $3,295 Diamond Ring Is a Romantic Tribute to Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs
The Internet has been patrolling the diamond ring 24/7 since Taylor Swift and boyfriend Travis Kels started dating in July 2023. (As Swift herself sings in “Lavender Haze”: “All they see is a one-night stand or a wife.”) The Swifts got a glimpse this weekend of a new tribute to Kelsey.
On December 21, the pop star was spotted at a local Kansas City Chiefs game wearing a Charlotte Simone cherry red faux fur coat and a Stephanie Gottlieb diamond, garnet, and citrine ring. The 14k yellow gold sparkler featured a romantic toi et moi setting, which means “you and me” in French.
Over the past few years, this style has become a popular ring setting among fashionistas and Hollywood stars; in 2018, Emily Ratakowski first sparked the trend with a two-stone engagement ring (which later became a “divorce ring”), and a few years later Ariana Grande and Megan Fox followed suit. The originator of this style, however, was Jackie Kennedy, who received a diamond and emerald engagement ring from President John F. Kennedy.
The toi et moi ring style is a design consisting of two stones, each identified by a gemstone representing their relationship. In Swift's case, it was a pear-shaped garnet and a cushion-cut citrine. According to Stephanie Gottlieb's website, this represents “a timeless symbol of connection, commitment, and elegance.”
While Swift's ring is undoubtedly dedicated to her boyfriend, it certainly does not signify prenuptials. Rubies and gold are the signature colors of the football team (the diamonds are just for fun).
This isn't the first time Swift has polished up her game day outfit with themed jewelry; the “Bejeweled” singer has also worn David Yulman's heart-shaped garnet earrings, Letlevai's ruby and diamond heirloom ring, Anita Ko's ruby She also owns drop hoop earrings by Anita Coe.
Sorry Swiffy, but she still won't give me the “1950s shit they want from me.”
