Trump Declares He Will Appoint Pro-Life Justices to Supreme Court
Tonight, Donald Trump was interviewed by Leslie Stahl of 60 Minutes. One of her first questions was about the appointment of Supreme Court justices and what it would mean for issues like Roe v. Wade.
"During the campaign, you said you would appoint justices who would oppose abortion rights. Are you going to appoint a judge who wants to overturn Roe v. Wade?"
"I'm pro-life," Trump replied." The judge will be pro-life."
When Stahl probed about the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned, Trump's response was more unclear. [I know about the Second Amendment, and everybody talks about the Second Amendment, and they're trying to dice it up and change it. But as far as abortion, if it were to be overturned, it would go back to the states. So it will go back to the states."
"But then some women will not be able to get abortions," Stahl stated.
"No, it would go back to the states," Trump said.
"What about women who live in states that don't allow abortion?
"Yes, yes, they would probably have to go to another state.
"And you're okay with that? Stahl asked.
"Well, let's see what happens. We've got a long way to go. We have a long, long way to go."
