Here's why Taylor Swift didn't directly support Travis Kells' Christmas game.

Those hoping for a Taylor Swift sighting on Christmas Day were disappointed when the Kansas City Chiefs played the Pittsburgh Steelers on December 25.

Fans who might have had such a sighting on their Christmas lists would have understood the basis for their hopes. Swift spent last Christmas in the stands while her boyfriend, Travis Kells, played.

Swift has not officially announced her reasons for skipping this year's Christmas Day matchup, but the likely reason behind her different decision this year is location: in 2023, the Christmas Day game was played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, home for the Chiefs. While this year's Christmas Day matchup was played at Pittsburgh's Acricia Stadium, it was an away game.

For Swift, who has not attended an away game all season, location is an important piece of the puzzle. However, Swift reportedly does not attend away games not because of travel, but because of security concerns.

According to sources close to the singer, the venues she visits must be vetted by her security team, which makes attending away games a logistical nightmare for her.

“She knows the venues and doesn't go anywhere unless she has thoroughly scouted and secured them in advance,” one source told Page Six earlier this year.

Early in the season, fans were buzzing with concern about Swift and Kelce's relationship status when Swift missed the Chiefs' games in Atlanta and Los Angeles.

“If she's going somewhere that's not Arrowhead, there are security concerns,” a Swift insider told Page Six at the time.

“She's worked with Arrowhead so many times that they are comfortable and secure. To go to different stadiums, you have to send teams in advance."

Still, Swift was watching the Christmas Day matchup from home, and when Kelce broke the Chiefs' franchise record for most receptions and touchdowns during the game, he “liked” the game on social media on social media when Kelce broke the Chiefs' franchise record for most receptions and touchdowns during the game.
