Timothée Chalamet reveals whether he will sing in “The Complete Unknown” or not.
Question Is there anything Timothy Chalamet can't do?
Answer Apparently not.
The 28-year-old star has built an impressive genre-bending resume as an actor, effortlessly handling period dramas like “Little Women,” sci-fi epics like “Dune,” and even family-friendly fantasy films with iconic characters like “Wonka.”
In his latest film, the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” Chalamet takes on the challenge of playing a real-life music industry icon. The film focuses on Dylan's life in the 1960s as he rose to prominence and fame in the music world, and yes, the film includes some of Dylan's iconic songs from that era.
In Entertainment Weekly's November feature on the film, Fred Berger, producer of A Complete Unknown, noted that Chalamet not only sang to play Dylan in the film, but also filmed scenes of him singing for the film, playing instruments and performing live. Chalamet not only sang to play Dylan in the film, but also played an instrument and performed live while filming the singing scenes for the film. [According to Entertainment Weekly, “There are 40 songs he plays in the movie. He sings live on guitar, on harmonica, take after take.”
In a featurette released on YouTube, Chalamet also reveals the musical aspect of playing Dylan.
“Singing and performing live was important to me,” Chalamet added.
“And I'm proud to have made that leap.”

Or an even younger me. The film draws from Elijah Waldo's 2015 book, Dylan Goes Electric. It is a fantastic retelling of the events of the early 60s leading up to the fiasco in Newport. If you see the movie, read the book.”
