Prince George “swaps places” with Prince Harry at the Royal Family's annual Christmas event.
As Prince George has aged, he has been entrusted with more responsibilities within the royal family; in 2024, Prince George reportedly inherited a Christmas tradition from his uncle Prince Harry, who now lives in California.
According to The Sun, Prince George attended a pre-Christmas soccer game with his father, Prince William. Before leaving the UK, the Duke of Sussex used to play festive soccer matches with his brother. Now, it appears that William's 11-year-old son has decided to take the place of Prince Harry's soccer boots.
William and George “played on the same team in an annual match between workers at Sandringham Manor and neighboring villagers,” the Sun reports. Since Prince George regularly attends games with his father, it makes sense that he would gladly take over his uncle's role on the royal soccer team. George has been photographed cheering on William's favorite team, Aston Villa, and watching important England matches.
According to so-called “insiders,” George was particularly “energetic,” and William nearly scored a goal.
“They seemed to be developing a healthy parent-child bond.
“The other kids were playing, too, and everything was fun and lighthearted.”
The source continued, “It's nice that they're back to participating in the traditional games, as they haven't done so in years.... But it was interesting to see Harry take Prince George's place.”
In addition to George and William, Kate Middleton was also spotted cheering along with Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte.
A few years ago, Kate Middleton told Prince George that she was not impressed with his soccer skills. Apparently, the little prince told the Princess of Wales, “Mom, you are so crappy.” During a visit to Northern Ireland, Princess Kate played soccer with the children and joked, “I should have taken a hint from George,” the Telegraph reported. Clearly, Will and Kate's oldest son is developing a talent for soccer.
